A recent report published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicates that truck driver accidents and deaths are at their highest levels in more than 30 years. Pedestrians killed in large trucking accidents also increased 13% over the previous year. And as stated by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations, companies may bear liability for any accident in which their drivers are at fault, including contractors.

Driver attitudes towards safety and their innate dispositions with respect to being reliable, responsible and rules compliant are critical predictors of accident propensity.
